Sholay (1975)


Sholay means fire. In this particular movie, a Police Officer, who family was killed by a bandit named Gabbar Singh, decides to fight fire with fire and recruits two convicts, Jai and Veeru.

He approaches them in jail, puts the proposal in front of them, and they agree to bring in Gabbar Singh alive - for a hefty price. After their discharge from jail, they travel by train to the village where the Police Officer lives - now with only his widowed daughter-in-law. The three band together to fight one of the most elusive and dreaded bandits of all time. Will the two ex-cons be able to bring Gabbar alive to the Police Officer?

Seeta aur Geeta (1972)


Seeta and Geeta (Malini dual role) are twin girls who were separated at birth. Geeta, a feisty girl is raised in a poor neighborhood and is a street performer, while Seeta is raised by her cruel aunt, "Chachi" (Manorama) and meek uncle.

Her aunt treats Seeta like a servant, despite the fact that the family is living off her late parents' money. Seeta's only consolation is her old grandmother.

One day, Seeta decided life is not worth living and runs away to commit suicide. She is saved, but is mistaken for her identical twin Geeta, and is taken to Geeta's home. Meanwhile, Seeta's aunt and uncle are frantically searching for her, and ironically, they find Geeta. They attempt to force Geeta to go with them, but, using some of her clever tricks, escapes both them and the police who have been searching for her.

She then meets Ravi (Sanjeev Kumar) and though he also mistakes her for Seeta, she goes home with him. Ravi is surprised by this "Seeta" and the Seeta he had met previously. Geeta realizes the cruelty that Seeta has been living under and vows to teach her aunt a lesson.

Meanwhile, the real Seeta is living in Geeta's house. Her surrogate mother has attributed her new docile attitude to shock. Here, Seeta meets Raka (Dharmendra), Geeta's friend and fellow performer. Raka is also surprised by "Geeta's" sudden gentle nature and desire to do housework. When he tried to coax her into performing, she of course is unable to do so. Ravi meanwhile falls in love with Geeta.

At home, Geeta begins to set everything on a proper course. She resumes control of the money, and restore her grandmother to the head of the household, where she belongs. Meanwhile Raka begins to fall in love with Seeta. Trouble begins brewing when Chachi's brother comes to visit and sees the real Seeta in a marketplace. He follows her and he discovers the truth and it leads to a showdown in the villains den with happy endings and marriage.

Sanyasi (1975)


Renukadevi is widowed and the mother of a son named Ram. Her husband had indulged in all possible vices, and passed away unexpectedly. Her father-in-law, Rai, does not want Ram to repeat his father's mistakes, and teaches him all the positive values of the Hindu religion, in particular the contents of the Holy Book "Geeta".

As a result, Ram refrains from all known vices, is an expert in yogic exercises, decides to live the life of a celibate, and refuses to marry anyone. When Rai passes away, Renuka asks Ram to fulfill his grandfather's last wishes, one of which was to get married. She even arranges his introduction to Aarti, an attractive young woman. But Ram is convinced that marriage is not for him.

Renuka is overjoyed when her estranged brother, Gopinath, and his son, Rakesh, return from abroad. With their help she hopes to get Ram marries with Aarti. Then things get complicated when Rakesh falls in love with Aarti. Ram leaves town to attend to business, and circumstances propel Renuka to will her entire estate to Rakesh and change his name to Bharat, with the blessings of a renowned saint named Ishwar Baba.

After this ceremony, the people around Renuka start showing their true colors, and after an open-palmed stinging slap from Aarti, Renuka realizes that her place in this house is now worse than that of a lowly servant. Renuka now finds out that Aarti, Gopinath, and Rakesh are not who they claim to be, but will this realization be enough to reverse the order of events, or does fate have something even worse in store for Renuka?

Kranti (1981)

The British did not give India its independence on a silver platter. Independence was the result of a long and bloody battle. "Kranti" is the story of how two men became soldiers in that battle.

Sangha is a honest and dedicated employee in the kingdom of Ramgarh, owing allegiance and loyalty to no one except Raja Laxman Singh. When Laxman Singh conditionally permits the British to use the port for trading purposes, Sangha finds out that the British are taking out gold and jewelery and bringing in ammunition, he puts a stop to this.

He goes to report this outrage to Laxman Singh, only to find him stabbed to death and he charged with treason and of killing him. Sentenced to death, he escapes and forms a group of revolutionaries who have only one motto - drive the British out of India. This group multiplies into several armies, all united with one slogan - an Independent India. Which is also known as Kranti.

Baghban (2003)

Raj Malhotra and his wife Pooja have raised a family of four sons who are now nicely settled in their respective professions. Their life is filled with love and prosperity, and all this has been possible because Raj has invested all his income including his provident fund and gratuity who according to him are his assets that would secure his future.

But when he retires, life suddenly changes. None of the four sons is ready to take their parents responsibility. To the extent Raj and Pooja then depend on the kindness of strangers. How Raj Malhotra through strife and hardship overcomes this turmoil and comes up a winner is central crux of Baghban.
